The last 12 months has seen a lot of attention towards Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s Playstaion 3 and Nintendo’s Wii but a lot of excitement has been seen in PC games. It’s obvious the PC is here to stay as a means to play games on.

Consumers have driven up laptop sales in the last couple of years. Laptop Computer sales now account for around 50 percent of PC’s shipped.
Although most users don’t require mobility there is something about being able to move a computer from one room to another and neatly packing it away that we all find necessary. The only gripe for game lovers was that the majority laptops were not powerful enough for gamers. Any notebook meant for playing games on was also big, beastly, noisy and just expensive.

A lot has changed. First the Intel Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors started matching the speed of Desktop CPU’s. Intel have done brilliantly marketing centrino and being the market leader but AMD has pushed them enough to excel in the notebook market.

Another contributor that has really been making gaming notebooks a reality is Nvidia. Things are moving in the right direction. Intel release the quad core processor in 2008. Nvidia will release the Geforce 9 series after having success with the eight series.
