Time…oh… time… how I wish that I had more of you. Don’t you wish that you had more time, too? The one thing that all students definitely lack is, of course, time. We have to make time for homework…time for our social lives…time for our girlfriends…time for those study groups…time for those nasty part-time jobs that we all hate… And on top of all that we have to make time for building our companies. Almost seems impossible, right? Well it isn’t as long as you manage your time well. I never really did, but I at least started to at some point.

With the proper time management, any student entrepreneur can balance their school work with their business work. Sure it takes a lot of discipline and devotion but I’m confident that it can be done with the proper desire.

When I first started my company in my sophomore year of college, I found myself in complete disarray when it came to starting a business and concentrating on my school work. There would be days when I left class to go to business meetings and days when I decided to skip classes to work on something to do with…take a guess….my business.

I saw myself beginning to drift more away from school as most of my hours were being spent working on my business. I was an entrepreneur torn between two worlds. World #1 trying to be a normal college student and maintain my high GPA and World #2 as a young budding entrepreneur trying to take over the world. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy and my grades inevitably suffered.

I knew that is wasn’t the end of the world when my grades dropped a few points here and there, especially knowing that the national average age that a millionaire received in college was a C. So when my straight A’s turned into A’s, B’s, and one C, I wasn’t fazed. I knew that my slightly lower grade was just a tradeoff for being a devoted entrepreneur in college.

I’m not sure if I ever fully got back on track with my school work after I started my company in 2004. Writing down business ideas just became more important that reading poetry and studying for exams. About the only classes that I was able to stay interest in were my business classes, now they were actually fun (but I still didn’t like doing the homework).

Looking back at my college years (well I graduated 2 months ago, so I won’t have to look too far) I definitely could’ve managed my time better. But I’d have to say that my last few semesters of college I was able to at least get halfway back on track as I started to manage my time better between business and school work.

I began doing my school work days and sometimes weeks in advance. So for instance, I would check the syllabus for a class and see what’s due and when. Then between classes (I usually had 3 hour breaks here and there), I would spend my time doing homework way in advance so that I wouldn’t have to cram it all on the night before it was due.

Doing this allowed me to spend my nights and weekends working on my business. I tried to schedule my business meetings for the days that I actually had off of school (makes sense, right?), usually Thursdays - Sundays, instead of blowing class for a meeting.

On the weekends during the day I would spend my time brainstorming, making calls, making plans, and implementing ideas. Then, of course, like any college student I would go out at night and have a blast. When I went out I not only partied hard, but I made sure to network hard. I was constantly engaging other students in conversations about my business, spreading the word as much as I could. This was and still is my favorite part about being an entrepreneur: the networking side of the business.

Talking to other students about my business and their interests at a social gathering was always an awesome experience for me. Remember that if your business deals with students, then you have to constantly study other students and to spread that buzz.

Once I began managing my time better, I was able to get better results with my business and school work, things were definitely looking better for me during my last few semesters at college.

So for all of you student entrepreneurs out there, remember to balance your time properly between your business and your school work and if your grades suffer a bit in the process, then don’t worry about it too much - it’s not the end of the world. Have fun, work hard, party hard, and never stop building your business.

Med Cart Features

Contemporary med carts are sturdy in construction and adaptable in use. They are made of lightweight aluminum and contain a steadfast inner framework. This flexibility allows the facility to create a customized cart for their specific needs.

Assisted Living Facilities can determine what type of medicine cart or unit dose cart they require. Questions they might ask themselves: what type of organization is necessary for patient records, what accessories for the cart will be needed, like amount of dividers and placement of chart holders? In addition, what safety mechanisms are available for narcotic lock boxes and Sharps disposal systems?

Size of the facility is another consideration. Will a multiple of small carts be used to cover a larger facility? Will one sizable cart do? Will only a small cart be needed to dispense medications to as few as ten residents or is a medium-sized cart necessary in order to service more residents.

Med cart options vary; therefore, the amount of assessment questions Assisted Living Facilities need to ask themselves is immense. In the end, what is generated is a custom-made med cart that adapts to each facility.

Med CartsAesthetically Pleasing

Innovative series of med carts that easily integrate into a facility’s environment are becoming increasingly popular. Since Assisted Living Facilities are not nursing homes, a more pleasant and comfortable atmosphere is desired. Here, facilities have a great deal of options available to them as well.

Med carts with the same functionality described in the previous section can be outfitted with an assortment of hard wood finishes. Light oak, dark oak, and even cherry wood finishes are currently available. As a result, options available can address specific needs of residents, but still contribute to the ambience of the facility.

Significantly, med carts of today combine ease of use, choice of configuration, and variety of remarkable exteriors that reflect the individual expression of the Assisted Living Center.

Finance + Capital& Getting Credit& University of Loans24 Aug 2008 10:29 am

While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 4 percent. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. See which lenders are charging fees 8 percent and for how much. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust’ In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 9 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender’s costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 5 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 11 percentage. Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 9 percent. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you’re considering. But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 9 percent offered by competitors will change.

Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 3 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly.

Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 5 percent. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. Different lenders charge different fees. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property. Start with credibility. It’s not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable.

You might know the rules of poker, but do you know the proper jargon? Whether you are playing a fast paced round of online poker, or gathered around the table with a bunch of friends playing Texas Holdem, it is always fun to talk the talk. Here then are a few of the classic poker hand nicknames to amuse, astound or simply confuse your opponents. If you are holding three 10’s, that Thirty Miles of Bad Road. Three Kings are better known as the Three Wise Men, while a pair of Kings plus a pair of Queens equal The Mamas and the Papas. A pair of 8’s are known as Piano Keys since there are 88 keys on every Steinway. A pair of 6’s takes you down Route 66, while two 7’s put you on Sunset Strip, named for the old TV show, 77 Sunset Strip. Drawing an Ace-King in Holdem means you have Big Slick, while an Ace-Queen is a Big Chick. A Ten and a Deuce may seem like a lackluster draw, but poker great Doyle Brunson won the World Series of Poker twice in a row with that same opener, so those cards are now known as a Texas Dolly, which is Brunson’s nickname.

If you believe this, you are certifiably insane!

Yes, he’s arrogant……..YES, he’s got a big mouth…………YES, he’s just plain rude

But who cares? The guy’s loaded and doesn’t mind who knows it. Over the past 6 years he has amassed a multi-million dollar fortune on the Internet. He walks the talk and is justifiably proud of it. We should be grateful that he’s prepared to share his experience and, yes, his genius (because the guy IS a genius) with mere ordinary mortals like you and me. In a 46 page e-Book, the RICH JERK has almost achieved the impossible and blown the competition to smithereens. His “black hat” strategies, in particular, are truly inspired. There are more golden nuggets here than I have discovered in 3 solid years of wading through endless stacks of DVDs, CDs, truck loads of manuals, reports, e-books, tutorials etc etc. You name it, I’ve bought it, studied it, listened to it, analysed it and tried it. I’ve forked out 1000’s of dollars on this stuff! Don’t get me wrong, some of it is very very good. It just takes too damn long to read or listen to. Far too complicated and padded out with too much unnecessary waffle. Nothing I have come across has managed to concentrate so much valuable and useable information into such a concise and understandable format. There is no padding here, no bull, just pure brilliance. I’ve personally had the RICH JERK’s e-book for 12 days now, and already I’m making money using just one of his strategies. You can read the RICH JERK (including note taking) in a couple of hours and be making money the very next day. When I started quilting 3 years ago I had just about no other people around me who had a first hand appreciation of quilting. Finding another quilter was pretty hard and often I didn’t have anyone to share my gift with or to talk to about it. When I got online looking for free quilting patterns I stumbled upon this great quilting membership site that has a vibrant community of quilters all over the world. It was exactly what I always wanted and I was pretty amazed that someone else had built it. They put alot of time and energy into setting up this wonderful site and even included everything you could think of to connect everyone! This site has more features than my cell phone!

When you start out quilting it’s always helpful to have some example patterns to help you get the hang of the quilting look and feel. With the free quilting patterns you can get online you can not only see some of the intriguing designs that you can use but you can make your first quilt design look ravishing! With this great quilt patch networking site I found you can share your designs with others as well as see what others have done to get ideas or to feel a sense of accomplishment when others comment about your work. The internet makes networking with other quilters fun!

One amazing, but sadly true, fact of today’s advances in communication tools is that we really don’t communicate much better than in the past.

Indeed one recent study determined the number one advancement in communication tools was the availability of cheap on-line airfares.

The airline trip was needed to clarify some earlier communication sent out electronically!

Therefore a Manager/Supervisor must be able to clearly communicate to his/her direct reports in an effective manner.

The following are 14 essential truths you must understand in order to improve your communication skills.

1. Focus–When someone is talking to you, STOP what you are doing and thinking. Face the person talking, devote 100% of you attention to both the person speaking and to what is being said.

2. Listen–Don’t just “hear” the words being spoken. Listen to what and how the statements are being said. Observe body signals and facial expressions.

3. Attention–Don’t let your mind wander. Let the person finish what they are saying, then take a few seconds to think about what your response will be.

4. Paraphrase–When the person is finished speaking repeat back in your own words what you heard. Ask the person if you have an understanding of what they said.

5. Empathy–Be aware of the other person’s needs. Everybody has different needs, wants and desires. Be cautious about substituting your needs for theirs.

6. Ask–Don’t tell. Telling quickly gets the other person on the defensive. Save your comments and guidance until you totally understand the question and the situation.

7. Be Open. –Don’t criticize, pass judgement or preach. Make objective conclusions about alternate ideas, people and situations. Be careful of attaching or offering your values too quickly, if at all.

8. Advise–Watch the temptation to “give” advice. Only “offer” advice. It’s always better to say something like “I suggest we…” and not “Here’s what you need to do”.

9. Trust–Is what open and honest communication is all about. Without trust teams can’t function properly, people will loose respect for each other. Without trust you are building a house of cards that will eventually tumble down. With trust teamwork and cooperation are much easier to achieve.

10. Equity–Both parties must feel equal. While at first reading this may seem an unusual requirement in the Supervisor and Direct Report relationship. However even in this situation the relationship should be equal on the personal level. By using equality in speaking, you avoid the dreaded condescending speech.

11. Comfort–While stress and tension may be surrounding the conversation learn to be comfortable with yourself and the message you are about to deliver.

12. Interest–Strive to have a genuine interest in others. Everyone has a story to tell and most of the time it is an interesting one! Talk in terms of what the other person is interested in. The familiar quote of “In order to be understood, we must first seek to understand others” is very true. Practice it.

13. Motivate–Always be looking for ways to motivate others. Use positive reinforcement often. Look for ways to offer praise and recognition.

14. Humor–Take life seriously, not yourself. Life is too short to go without a constant stream of humor. Look for it.

What if advertising was illegal? What if it were taken away? What if our nations media charged for their content and news instead of delivering it free and collecting from advertisers? You might be surprised how close that came to be back in the olden days. Thomas Jefferson once said that all advertising was misrepresenting and lying. He indicated if it were not for the news in the papers the whole thing would be a lie?

Today it seems it is just the opposite, as the news is not truthful and full of misrepresentation but the advertising is under very harsh scrutiny with rules and regulations from the FTC. So many rules in fact that often they cannot even tell all the benefits of a product or service because someone may say that from their perspective that the commercial may not be true. This opens the company up for complaints to government agencies and even class action lawsuits.

But what if the government went further in their regulations and rules on advertising? If they made it any tighter then companies would not be able to advertise and then no one would buy anything, because they may not be informed that it was even available. Likewise the media outlets of radio, TV, newspapers and even websites and Internet Search Engines would have to charge the viewer or reader for information.

This means people who worked in these companies who were advertising, which sold things, would be laid off. Additionally our prices for news would go up. The jobs losses and lost sales in so many companies would mean that our economy would take a huge hit. The American Quality of Life would be severely reduced. Think on that.
