Experiencing Historical Curacao
A nice mellowed down vacation with a lot of learning and enrichment about the rich cultural heritage of a place was exactly what Sam and I were looking for. The incessant parties had run their course for the time being. Most of the time we would gather our friends together and head off to the Caribbean. After the holiday we would be so tired that we wouldn’t go to work for a couple of days. Holiday hangover.
Sam had narrowed down the list for our trip to the Greater Antilles. The rich cultural heritage of the Dominican Republic seemed perfect especially after we got rave reviews from a friend who had already visited the historic sites there. After much deliberation we however decided not to go there as it offered too many party temptations.
The rich cultural heritage of Curacao seemed like the perfect alternative. It also had some great beaches where we could simply sit back and relax. We swore to keep away from its nightlife. The rich cultural heritage of the land houses and the old restored buildings in Otrabanda and Punda was magnificent. A short visit to the Hato Caves was an added geological adventure.
The Caribbean vacation with a historical twist was not as bad as we had thought it would be. It was actually really great. Our friends however were quite surprised and unconvinced. They couldn’t believe that we could have actually enjoyed such a sober vacation. Anyway, we have already started planning our next trip. Our friends will obviously tag along with us this time round. We have all agreed on a luxury and rejuvenating spa vacation.
